Floral and Denim Nostalgia.

Whenever I see a floral dress paired with a denim jacket, it always reminds me of the 90's. I am a 110% proud product of the 90's. To me, it was just the best decade (but I'm sure everyone feels that way about the decade they grew up in). I pine for the days when The Secret World of Alex Mack was on Nickelodeon and it was completely ok to mismatch colors and patterns and carry around a Polly Pocket as a purse. Anyway...sometimes I like to wear outfits that remind me of childhood because, well, I had a pretty good childhood and I miss lots of parts of it...including the fashion. Check out this little number I donned when I was about 3 or 4:

[Little me!]
It's a little more 80's than it is 90's, but you get the point. Sometimes I wish there was this magical machine that could take clothes that I had as a child and warp them into adult-size so I could wear them today. Even when I'm in stores nowadays, I see dresses for little girls that I wish they made in my size! Sigh... Anyway...this is what I wore on Saturday. Floral dress, denim jacket, 90's approved.

Dress: H&M
Jacket: H&M
Tights: Simply Vera by Vera Wang
Wedges: Jessica Simpson

I just got this dress and jacket on my most recent mall extravaganza. I've been wanting a new denim jacket for a while now. This one is cropped, comfy, and light...which fulfills all my denim jacket needs!

I brought along my fun heart-shaped glasses. Some outfits just beg for some sort of fun accessory like that.

Sometimes you just need to wear heart-shaped sunglasses. And speaking of shaped sunglasses...we all know how I love apples, so when I saw these on Modcloth, I was super excited. Unfortunately, I didn't order them in time because they're sold out now. :( Oh well, hopefully they will get them back in stock or I will hunt another pair down elsewhere. They're just too cute!

Denim Makes Me Feel Like A Kid

Summer break officially began for me today! That means more time for blogging! :D I am so behind on outfit shots, so the next few entries will probably be a little out of order.

This was Monday's outfit. I went to Goodwill on Saturday and picked up this awesome cropped denim jacket for $4.50, thanks to my nifty 50% off coupon. :) I also got three pairs of high-waisted denim shorts because I am in love with that look right now. You'll see them soon enough!

Dress: Robbie Bee (vintage)
Jacket: Gap (thrifted)
Shoes: Payless

This outfit screams "90's" to me. I think it's the denim with the black and white pattern, but mostly it's the denim jacket. It's probably why I'm such a fan of the whole denim trend right now. It reminds me of being a kid for some reason. I was feeling a little 90's anyway since Meaghan and I had gone to see Beauty and the Beast The Musical at a local theater the day before. I can't wait to post my outfit from that day. It involved my favorite pair of the newly thrifted shorts!

There are three details that I really like about this jacket:

1. It has a name tag inside of it. Not only that, but the previous owner actually wrote their last name on it!

I love seeing the history in the clothes I thrift. It's kind of like a mystery too. Who was Wright?

2. It has a secret pocket on the inside. It excites me when jackets have inside pockets. I don't know. I think it makes me feel cool like a spy or something.

3. There is a second name written on the actual label of the jacket. This jacket belonged to two previous owners! Neat! I wonder who this Scalera person was...

I'm excited to be able to update more! I'll probably be able to venture out to find some cool places to take pictures as well. Hooray for the free time that summer brings! :)
